Private patients

We are currently taking on private patients at our practice.

New Patient Consultation

The new patient consultation includes

  • Introduction and Patient History- Your Dentist will greet you as a new patient and introduce you to the dental team. Together with the dentist, you will discuss your medical and dental history and review any past dental records and X-rays if available.

  • Patient Concerns and Expectations- Your Dentist will discuss with you the reasoning for your visit (routine check-up, specific issue, etc.) The Dentist will inquire about any dental concerns, pain, or discomfort and your expectations and goals for your dental care.

  • An assessment of your oral health- In an oral health assessment, the Dentist will examine the teeth, gums, and entire mouth for signs of decay, gum disease, and other oral health issues. They will also assess your bite alignment, check for any abnormalities, and may take X-rays to get a detailed view of the underlying structures. Other diagnostic tests will be performed if required (e.g., periodontal probing).

  • Oral Cancer screening- During a cancer screening, the Dentist will look for abnormal lesions, sores, or lumps in the mouth, tongue, and throat that could indicate oral cancer. They will examine the gums, cheeks, roof and floor of the mouth, and neck for any unusual changes or persistent areas of irritation that may warrant further investigation or a biopsy.

  • Discussion of Findings- The Dentist will explain the findings from the examination and diagnostic tests, they will show you the X-rays and other diagnostic images if applicable and discuss any identified issues and potential treatment options.

  • Treatment Planning- The Dentist will outline a personalized treatment plan based on your needs and the options you have chosen and discuss the timeline, procedures, and expected outcomes of the treatment. Any questions you may have can be discussed.

  • Patient Education- The Dental team will offer advice on proper oral hygiene practices and discuss diet and lifestyle factors affecting oral health. They will provide educational materials if necessary (brochures, websites, etc.).

  • Financial, Dental plans and Insurance Information- The Dental team will explain the cost of proposed treatments and payment options, discuss Dental plan options and supplementary insurance coverage and plan and help with insurance claims if applicable.

  • Scheduling and Follow Up Appointments- The Dental team will assist you in scheduling any necessary follow-up appointments or treatments, and provide you with contact information for questions or emergencies. You will be provided with a welcome pack containing information you may require.
